I'm curious — what's your favorite shooting range around here and what makes it special for you? Is it the staff, the vibe, or maybe the location that draws you back?

No question ORSA Oak Ridge Sportsmans Association. My first experience there was around 1953 shooting with my dad so it has a special place for me.

ORSA has nearly 1000 acres and about anything you'd want including a first class action setup, clays, trap and skeet. For rifles the have up to 1000yd and archery, benchrest, indoor pistol (no magnums), competition range, steel plate range and plinking range. There's a beautiful clubhouse as well. ORSA sponsors many matches and has all types of programs for 22rf up to service rifles.

Checkout the ORSA website.

I belong to Oak Ridge and Unaka in Johnson City. .38SuperMan covered Oak Ridge very well so nothing to add there. Unaka is a scaled down version that is shotgun centric with archery and a nice combined rifle/pistol range to 200 yards. They have a nice clubhouse as well. The folks at Oak Ridge are nice for sure but add an extra dose for Unaka.

I only shoot handguns and I love Frontier Family Firearms Family Shooting Center in Kingston! I also use Range USA in West Knoxville and Buds Gun Shop in Kodak.

I've been a member of the Memphis Sport Shooting Association for +18 years. There're the usual skeet & trap ranges, plus sporting clays. You can shoot rifle at 50,100, 300, and 500 yds. ranges. Handgun at 7/ 10, 15, & 50 yds. There's 3-gun ranges as well. There's even an old west town for the SASS folks. If memory serves me correctly, the club has +/-240 acres and it well developed for the afore mentioned shooting.
