What's the best deal you ever got on a firearm?

Mine would be a Colt Police Positive .38 Special I bought about 30 or so years ago, got it for $75. I still have that revolver, can't ever remember shooting it, at this point I probably just won't. Beautiful old handgun, the finish is probably 97% and the action is as tight as the day it was manufactured. I seriously doubt the old revolver has have more than a box or two ran through it, if that.

I got a free SKS from my friend when he sold his pawn shop.
I probably should have made him pay me to take it.

I helped a guy move some furniture once and got a KNIGHT muzzle loader out of the deal, It still had the price tag on it and had never been fired.

My next best deal would be one of my S&W model 29-3's, got it for $200 in about 1996 or so. A guy had it listed in the local trading paper as a S&W, .44, chrome.

I jumped on it and called the guy, he said it was a .44, he had to go look to tell me if it was a magnum or special. He said it must be chrome as it's real shiny, and the barrel was about 4" or so. He said it's in really good shape...I gave him my name and told him I was 10 minutes out, he said I'd have first look.

Took me all of about 1 minute to start counting out the money for him!

The revolver was 99% as new condition.

Still one of my favorites.

This is with the factory stocks that came on it.​

I changed them out with a set of Hogue's I had laying around here. That's a model 57 of mine on the left..

I have been gifted two fantastic handguns, a NIB Colt SSA in .45 Colt and an ED Brown Executive Elite in .45 ACP. As far as buying a firearm at a great price, it would have to be my DCM, Springfield Armory M1 Garand. I still have the invoice somewhere and if I recall correctly, the price was $124.00. My Dad took my advice and put in for one. His was also a Springfield that I inherited. I decided to convert his to .308, had the stock bedded and added NM sights. It is extremely accurate.

A friend of mine is a karate instructor in East TN. He told me a guy was interested in some lessons and had a S&W - I think model 629 in ,44 MAG, Six inch barrel. The pistol was like new. He offered him 8 months of karate instruction for the gun. The guy accepted the offer but he only attended for four months. He never saw the guy again. I guess that was a good deal.

I once swapped a '94 Winchester for an M1 Garand.
A .30 cal. ammo can full of AP ammo in clips/bandoleer's was included.
The ammo was expended years ago, but the ammo can & clips are still in use.
