What is your favorite squirrel getter?

I've loved squirrel season since I was a kid. Always loved being out walking around chasing them in the trees. Even working putting up fences, dad let me keep his winchester 190 leaned up against a tree just in case.

Another favorite is my good ol Ruger 10-22.

Still have both of them and they get fairly regular use in the squirrel rotation.

For me it is an old Marlin 39A lever gun that my grandpa passed down. That thing has taken more squirrels than I can count, and I still use it every fall. It is not the lightest gun, but it is accurate, and I like the connection to family. I keep a Ruger 10/22 in the mix too, but the lever gun is what I use more often.

I had a Marlin model 60 for years. Harvested many bushy tails with it. I purchased it at an OTASCO. I doubt if yall have ever heard of Oklahoma Tire and supply Co. BUT, The rifle was very accurate and sure. As time progressed the rifle began to jam. I could not clean it or lube it enough to correct the problem. I have been told the culprit was most likely a weak ejection spring and sending the rifle to Marlin would have corrected the issue. I eventually replaced the rifle with a Ruger 10-22. So far, I'm pretty happy with the new rifle. It's not as attractive as the Marlin, b/c I selected the black synthetic stock to reduce the weight. Good choice for a hunter of my age
