I had that thing for probably ten years and I used it on every hunt. I realized it was gone when I got home and I'm genuinely bummed about it. It wasn't expensive or special, just mine you know? Ever lose a piece of gear that you actually cared about?

I hate losing stuff. How much it cost does add to the frustration, but losing it in the first place is what really gets me. The last thing I lost was a spare magazine for my SA XD-M 10MM I was carrying when I rolled my SxS...I looked for it over the course of two days, even took a metal detector back up there with no luck. The mag itself was a loss, but it had 15 rounds of Underwood 220g hard cast in it as well... 🤬

I was probably more upset that I lost that magazine than I was about rolling the SxS! 😂

Oof! Glad you're ok.
I know what you mean about losing stuff.
I put my 3 blade stockman down in my shop and cannot find it.
I feel neked without it in my pocket.
A man ort to have a pocketknife with him at all times, and I don't mean one with a pocket clip.

I used to carry pretty good sized lockbacks with pocket clips, the last one was a Cold Steel Recon 1, got away from that and it feels tons better. The reason I got away from it years ago was I started pocket carrying, started carrying a 642 in the right pocket, other necessities in the lest, to now include a two-blade canoe. 👍 I don't have any real need for a knife the size of that Recon anymore anyway.

BKLooney - Glad you survived your ordeal in the SXS and are able to share your experience. I thought the RECON is a nice knife and CRKT makes good knives! I have been collecting knives for a few years now and the number one knife I look for over and over is a canoe knife. I say until you carry one, you may not understand. Its a traditional knife in a world of tactical knives. The rounded edges and the slim fit make the knife a perfect fit for a front pocket. Its a great EDC! Like everything else though, I like variety so I change up from time to time Currently I'm carrying a Spyderco lock-back with a clip. These are funny looking knives in my opinion, but ergonomically - I like the way it feels in my hand, and the large flat knife with a clip fits well in my back pocket. I honesty never no its there until I want it. I'm attaching a picture. In it you will also see a medium sized Buck that I just got back from the factory. They put a new blade in it and I'm very happy with the outcome of it. Hope you can open the picture and again - GLAD you weren't seriously hurt in the roll over.

When I was working I had far more use for a large lockback than I do now. Although I use my pocket knife several times every day it's for small chores, my little canoe covers my current needs. I still love knives such as that Recon I really just don't need to carry it anymore.

Is that a Buck 55 in the picture? Always wanted to get one of those, just never have. 😊

That rollover hurt for a few days to be sure, I had a bad rollover on my 4-wheeler a month or so after that one. I came out of the mountain riding that 4-wheeler like a motocross bike on a trail that I know "like the back of my hand" and got just a bit off my line and hit a stump at about 30 mph. We, me and that 4-wheeler, flipped about 3 times and it landed on top of me. I laid there for just a bit as I thought I might have broken my neck, (another story since I have titanium plates and pins in my neck) after just a bit I knew I hadn't so it was time to leave...wasn't as easy as it sounds! My right boot was caught pretty bad underneath, since I was riding by myself it took me about 10 minutes or so to get the 680 lb machine off of me and get myself out from under it...it took a while, but once all that moonshine wore off it hurt even more! 👍😂..that one hurt for a month or better. 😞
