Long-range shooting taught me that wind is the whole game

At 600 yards, I can dial elevation and be very close. But at 600 yards with a 12-mph crosswind, I’m holding somewhere I’m not fully confident in. Wind calls at distance are what separate casual shooters from serious precision rifle folks. It takes real time to learn.

Anyone can dial dope, reading air is where the real shooters earn their stripes.

The wind is what truly separates everyone. I can sit there and adjust for elevation all day long. But it's really learning to read the wind when you're shooting at longer distances that tells you who's just playing around and who's serious. That kind of skill takes years to develop.
