If you could only have one rifle for literally everything (Hunting, range time, home defense), what are you keeping and why?

Ive always thought that I could live with two - a 12 gauge and a center fire rifle in the 30 caliber range. But if I had to limit myself to one?
Id probably choose my 30-30, because of where I live. I'm usually hunting in brush, and I feel like it is the best all around brush gun. THANKFULLY ! We live in a country where we have options and I can have more than one.

I enjoy reading responses to posts similar to this. I’m glad I don’t have to limit myself to one do it all firearm. Purpose built firearms are absolutely important in my opinion. I do understand the importance of versatility for those that are limited financially or have other imposed limitations. However, it always comes down to priorities and personal preference. Compromise never seems to work well in the stated use cases mentioned from the OP. However, if I was forced to cover home protection, hunting, and occasional range time with one firearm, it would be a shotgun.

Light, handy, reliable and pretty accurate with the Sig red dot or the iron sights.
