I enjoy reading responses to posts similar to this. I’m glad I don’t have to limit myself to one do it all firearm. Purpose built firearms are absolutely important in my opinion. I do understand the importance of versatility for those that are limited financially or have other imposed limitations. However, it always comes down to priorities and personal preference. Compromise never seems to work well in the stated use cases mentioned from the OP. However, if I was forced to cover home protection, hunting, and occasional range time with one firearm, it would be a shotgun.
