I've been trying to figure out if binary triggers are legal in Tennessee. I'm a transplant from out of state, so I'm still getting a handle on the local gun laws. I know there's a lot of chatter about this subject online, but it can be hard to sift through all the opinions to find the actual rules. Last weekend, I went to a local gun shop, and the clerk seemed unsure. He said something about how it might depend on the specific setup or something. I'm just hoping to get a clearer answer before I dive in and buy one. Has anyone else looked into this? Any help would be appreciated!

For me...it's a nah.. 😊

They're not prohibited by Federal law and Tennessee doesn't have any state-specific laws pertaining to them that would make them illegal in any way. 👍

The one thing that's always in my mind when people talk about the binary triggers is that once you pull the trigger you are forced to fire again when it's released...if you don't want that shot to go off you're stuck doing it anyway. Might get ahold of one of the FRT-15 type triggers one day, that's just a maybe though.

I've ran a lot of rounds through quite a few full-auto firearms, fun as can be...but expensive. Back in the day it wasn't so bad, but that's changed.

I'm more of the mindset to make each round count and conserve ammo if need be, not much call for me to lay down suppressive full-auto fire. 😊

A quick Google of "binary trigger legal states" gives the current federal low down with 9 states outlawing them, Tennessee is NOT included in those nine.
