As a rule, I don't hunt or fish while its raining. I have been caught in the rain while I was hunting / fishing but as Ive gotten older - I don't range too far from my pickup. For me the most important thing has been my water proof boots and a cheap disposable poncho that can be wadded up in my back pack and disposed of if when I choose to replace it.. I had two rain suits for motorcycle riding. One was made by Frog togg. It is better than a poncho but no way would frogg toggs hold up in a briar patch. The second rain suit was made of a PVC material. It was superior to the frogg toggs, but they cost more, they were more restrictive and they didn't breathe well at all. I felt like I was in a sauna. My hunting coat is described as being able to repel water. If I caught in the rain, I'm getting wet. I - like most folks have a smart phone and I watch the weather. If it is predicting rain, I high tail it to the truck and call it a day.
