Summer always feels like the slow season for hunting, but it's a great time to get a jumpstart before things heat up. I’ve been checking my gear, scouting some areas, and keeping up with my fitness, but I know there’s more I could be doing; I’m curious how everyone else tackles summer prep.

I like to hit the range every couple weeks to stay sharp. Do you focus more on scouting or physical prep during the off-season?

I hear you, summer can feel like the off-season, but it can also be prime prep time. I usually shoot more at the range, run trail cams, and brush up my maps

Summer’s when I tighten up the basics. I’ll scout mornings when it’s cooler and mix in hikes with a weighted pack, it keeps my legs ready for the hills when the season starts and Volley, I lean a little more toward scouting than workouts. Cardio’s part of my routine, but finding fresh sign and bedding areas in summer has paid off more come fall
