I'm setting up my shotgun for home defense and want to know what works. Are short-barreled pumps with ghost-ring sights and shell carriers good? Or should I go with a small semi-auto and a red dot? I need simple setups that hold up when things get real

The simple answer is that both setups you mentioned are good, reliable options. It really depends on how much you want to spend, how you plan to train, and what compromises you're okay with making. There's no single perfect setup, but some are definitely better than others

So, you want a super reliable, simple shotgun (short pump with ghost rings and shell carrier) or one that lets you shoot faster and aim easier?

A basic pump shotgun with ghost ring sights and a side saddle is simple to use and works even when you're stressed out...practice reloading and switching weapons, and you'll be all set

A short pump with ghost rings is a classic for a reason but if you have the money, a small semi-auto with a red dot is better for ease and speed..either way is a good pick.
